Management of Dental Trauma

If your child experiences an accident that results in a broken or fractured front tooth, please bring them in to see us as soon as possible.
If the permanent tooth is chipped, try to find the broken piece, store it safely in milk, and contact us immediately.

In the case of a completely knocked-out permanent tooth, it may be possible to replant it into its socket. Apply ice to the area to control bleeding and search for the tooth. If it’s dirty, gently rinse it with water, but only by holding it by the crown—avoid touching or scrubbing the root. If you can, place the tooth back into its socket and have your child bite down on a clean napkin as you rush to our clinic. If replanting it isn’t possible, store the tooth in a cup of your child’s saliva (if they can spit), cold milk, or coconut water, and get to us quickly.
