Oral Prophylaxis
The primary cause of tooth decay is the yellowish, sticky film that forms along the gum line. This film provides food for the bacteria in your mouth. As the bacteria feed, they produce acids that attack the tooth enamel, leading to cavities.
Imagine what would happen if acid were spilled on your clothes—it would create holes. In a similar way, these acids gradually damage the enamel of your teeth.
To prevent this, it’s essential to remove this buildup through oral prophylaxis. During the cleaning process, we will gently remove any tartar (plaque), floss between the teeth, and polish the tooth surfaces to ensure your child’s teeth are thoroughly clean and protected.
